Every other way of heating a room has been reinvented in the last century. The wood burner has simply been refined, because the thing it does, real flame, real fuel, real heat, was never the problem.

  • Warmth that owes nothing to the grid

    A stove heats through a power cut, a price rise, and a British winter alike. A cubic metre of seasoned hardwood holds its value in a way few things attached to a house do.

  • Cleaner than its reputation

    Every stove we fit meets Ecodesign standards, and most are DEFRA exempt for use in smoke control areas. A modern firebox burns the smoke as well as the wood, the technology has moved further in ten years than in the previous hundred.

  • A fixture, not a purchase

    A cast-iron or steel firebox, properly fitted and swept regularly, outlasts most of the house around it. The stoves here are chosen for how they will look in ten years, not how they look in the showroom.

Heat output is the most over-bought spec in the trade. Buying slightly smaller and running it properly is better for the glass, the flue, and the air in the room.

    A HETAS-registered engineer measures the room, checks the chimney or plans the flue, and talks through what you actually want from a fire.

  • The fitting

    Floors are covered, the flue is lined and tested, and the hearth is left cleaner than we found it. Building control notification is handled for you.

  • The first fire

    We light it with you, how to build the fire, run in the paint, and read the airwash. You keep the HETAS certificate, the warranty paperwork, with a warm welcome to the Croft and Flame family for afterservice.
