Croft & Flame
Dru Fires. Instant fire, honestly engineered
Two hundred and seventy years of Dutch iron, turned to warmth.
DRU takes its name from its founders, Diepenbrock and Reigers, who opened an iron foundry in Ulft, the Netherlands, in 1754. What began casting pots and pans has grown, across nearly three centuries, into Europe's market leader in gas fires and wood burning stoves, the same fire that once shaped cookware now carried indoors to warm the home, with research already under way into biogas, electricity and hydrogen for whatever comes next.
At Croft & Flame, we've chosen DRU because it combines that modern technology with beautiful design and everyday ease of use. Every DRU appliance we sell meets Ecodesign standards, built for efficient warmth, clean burning and the kind of build quality that's still working properly many winters from now.
A gas fire from DRU means real flame and real warmth, at the push of a button, without the wood store, the ash pan, or waiting for a chimney sweep.
A Dutch fire, properly supported on British soil.
DRU's products reach the UK through Drugasar, founded in Manchester in 1975 as DRU's UK distributor and a fully owned subsidiary of the company since 2003. It's a genuine operation, not a name on a box, sales consultants, technical support, marketing and office staff, all supporting a national network of DRU approved retailers and Gas Safe installers.
Beyond private homes, the Manchester team has supplied gas heating to thousands of churches, schools, local authorities, social housing providers, offices and leisure sites across the country. That's the depth of experience standing behind every fire we install for you, spares, servicing and technical backup that doesn't depend on a call to the Netherlands.
Four reasons a gas fire is still the wise choice.
Saying what they do, and doing what they say.
Three installation styles, five ways to view the flame.
Beautiful flames, even when your home barely needs the heat.
Match the fire to the room, not the room to the fire.
The kW rating tells you how much heat a fire can produce to comfortably warm the space where you place it. In a traditional-size living room, around 5 kW is usually ideal — enough to keep the room comfortable without wasting fuel, overheating or underheating it.
In larger, open-plan and shared spaces, we calculate the output your room actually needs before we recommend a model.
Specified for your home, then made effortless to live with.
Room, chimney, supply.
We talk through room size, insulation, whether you have a chimney or a gas connection, and what you'd like the fire to do.
Setting, not just appliance.
Sometimes it's a classic fire in an existing opening, sometimes a bespoke media wall built to frame it. We design around your room, not the other way round.
Fitted to Gas Safe standards.
Registered engineers, the right flue route, and the correct gas supply, mains, biogas or propane, properly specified and commissioned.
