Croft & Flame

Rocal, The fire carried within.

The Maker

Forty years in Centelles, obsessed with the view of the flame.

Rocal has designed and built fireplaces, stoves, fireboxes and inserts from its factory in Centelles, twenty five kilometres outside Barcelona, since 1982. More than forty years and 200,000 installed appliances later, the same eighty strong team still controls the process from raw material to finished fire, working closely with product designers to keep every model current rather than merely traditional.

As Rocal put it themselves, lighting a fire is a small ritual, almost a magical moment, that precedes the warmth and company it brings. Giving the fire the biggest possible view has been close to an obsession in how they design, forms that stay light and elegant while still producing serious heat, built to feel considered even switched off.

At Croft & Flame, we've chosen Rocal for exactly that combination: architectural Spanish design, a flame you can actually see, and the quality to back it up.

Central & Freestanding

The fire as the room's centre.

Designed to stand away from the wall, viewable from every angle, the boldest way to place a fire in an open-plan or double-height space.

Wall Mounted & Suspended

Sculpture that happens to burn wood.

Rather than a stove on a bracket, these are designed from the ground up to be wall fixed, freeing the floor and reading as a genuine piece of design

Why Rocal Fires

Four reasons this is the fire for a considered, contemporary room.

  • i. The view of the fire, prioritised.

Large glass and carefully drawn forms exist for one reason, to give you the biggest possible view of the flame. It's a design principle Rocal treat as close to non negotiable, not an afterthought bolted on at the end.

  • ii. Light in form, powerful in heat.

Rocal's bodies are formally bold yet visually light, but the heat output comfortably outperforms what people expect from an open fire. Elegant looks and serious warmth aren't treated as a trade off.

  • iii. A presence, even unlit.

Every model is designed to hold its own in a room whether the fire is burning or not, sculptural enough to give a space personality without shouting for attention.

  • iv. Tested, not just styled.

Constant investment in manufacturing technology keeps emissions down and fuel efficiency up, and every appliance is tested exhaustively against European quality standards before it ever reaches a showroom floor.

The Collection

From a quiet corner unit to the centrepiece of an open plan room.

Rocal's range runs from wall mounted and inset appliances through to freestanding, central and multi sided stoves that work as the architecture of a room in their own right.

Why Buy Rocal From Croft & Flame

Rocal trusts their distributors to get the installation right.

Survey & Conversation

Room, hearth, clearances.

Central and multi sided Rocal stoves need more room around them than a wall mounted model, we start by checking what your space can genuinely take.

Design

The fire as a feature.

Whether it's a sculptural central stove or a built in firebox for a media wall, we design the setting so the flame view Rocal engineered is never compromised.

Install

Fitted to HETAS standards.

Registered engineers, the correct flue and clearances, and building control notification handled, professional installation Rocal themselves rely on their distributors for.

Handover

The first fire, lit together.

A full demonstration, the paperwork in your hand, and a stove you already know how to load, light and control.

A central stove asks more of a room than a corner one.
Choosing the Right Heat

Most living rooms need around 5 kW. Rocal's larger central and multi sided models, like the 17.6 kW Gala, can comfortably heat bigger, open plan spaces, but they also need more room around them: a wider hearth and clearance zone than a wall mounted or inset stove.

We measure your room and calculate the right output and clearances together, before we recommend a model.
